Minister James X Shabazz of Mosque #25 appears in a rare French TV interview with several key figures in the Malcolm X assassination: Mosque #7 secretary Maceo X Hayes (0:48), Mosque #7 FOI captain Joseph X Gravitt (0:48) and Mosque #7 assistant minister Henry X (1:16).
James X Shabazz (aka James McGregor) of the Nation of Islam (NOI) was a key figure in the assassination of Malcolm X and is the person suspected of selecting William X Bradley, Leon Davis, Talmadge Hayer, Albert Benjamin Thomas and Wilbert McKinney to form the team of Newark Mosque #25 killers who murdered Malcolm X. Shabazz is also suspected of appointing Mosque #25 lieutenant Agurs Linward X Cathcart (aka Abdul Karriem Muhammad) to supervise the hit squad.
As the minister of the NOI’s New Jersey temple, Shabazz knew each of the assassins well and would have been in a position to vouch for their reliability. It is precisely because he was close to these killers that he was moved to Harlem’s Mosque #7 ahead of the assassination in order to cover his tracks and insulate him from suspicion in the event of police questioning following the killing.
Moving in to take his place at Mosque #25 on the day of the assassination was the minister of Boston’s Mosque #11, Louis X Farrakhan who, as an integral component of this elaborate ‘musical chairs’ camouflage, was clearly part of the conspiracy to murder Malcolm X.
James Shabazz, who had been moved to New York to serve as the ‘interim minister’ of Harlem’s Mosque #7, was placed in charge of the Audubon Ballroom assassination preparations and served as the chief organiser of two NOI events – the Fruit of Islam’s ‘A Night With The FOI’ (12 January) and the Muslim Girls in Training ‘Annual Class Closing’ (16 February) – which were held at the Ballroom in the weeks leading up to the 21st February 1965 assassination.
These two events were used by the NOI’s leadership to familiarise the Newark Mosque #25 killers with the layout of the Ballroom and to plant weapons in the venue ahead of the assassination.
James Shabazz was shot dead in early September of 1973 by members of the New World of Islam – a killing to which Farrakhan refers in this vitriolic speech delivered a few days later: http://youtu.be/1Ri3E6B5r5U
21st February 2015 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Malcolm X assassination and we demand that Louis Farrakhan publish all of the NOI’s files and records, in full and without alteration, on the five known assassins of Malcolm X: William X Bradley, Leon Davis, Talmadge Hayer, Albert Benjamin Thomas and Wilbert McKinney. In addition, we demand that Mr Farrakhan make available to the public all of the NOI’s files and records on former Fruit of Islam (FOI) lieutenant Agurs Linward X Cathcart who has recently emerged as a person of interest where the Malcolm X assassination is concerned. We are also appealing to President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to publish all US federal government files and records, without alteration or redaction, relating to the 1965 crime.
